Fine antique American Art Deco silver rectangular compact case with reeded and chevron banded decoration, the cover with two pairs of gold mounted emerald cut blue stones, opens and closes
tightly with a black push button stone, stamped STERLING and 14K to the lid. Provenance Lady Dorothy Quayle nee Hyson (1914-1996), daughter Rosanna. Quayle was the wife of the actor Sir Anthony Quayle. She was an American film and stage actress who worked largely in England. During World War II she worked as a cryptographer at Bletchley Park.
