Bibelot is a late nineteenth century word derived from the French word bel 'beautiful', meaning a small item of beauty, curiosity or interest. The word ephemera is derived from the sixteenth century Greek word ephmera meaning a printed or hand written paper not meant to be retained for a long period of time.
Fine antique royal presentation photo by Terry O'Neill (1938-2019), hand signed by Queen Elizabeth II wearing the Burmese Ruby Tiara, dated 1994, mounted and housed in a large gilt wooden frame.

The House of Garrard received the commission in 1973, from Queen Elizabeth herself. The Queen used gems from wedding presents she received for her wedding with Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh on 20 November 1947. It was one of the most symbolic and personal pieces created for her by Garrard. The 96 rubies mounted in the tiara were originally given to the queen as a wedding gift from the people of Burma, intended as a symbol of protection against illness and evil.

Size of Frame: 55.5 x 77 cm approx
