Fine antique pair of royal Ceremonials printed from an edition of 500 prepared for the Coronation of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra at Westminster Abbey, dated 26th June 1902. The first Ceremonial is inscribed "Given to me by Mr Frowde & used by me at the Coronation 9th Aug 1902 - A.B." and is numbered 387 out of an edition of 500. The second Ceremonial is signed "Daisy Bigge" and is numbered 388 out of an edition of 500, each Ceremonial has 55 pages. Provenance - Arthur Bigge, 1st Baron Stamfordham (1849-1931), and his daughter Margaret nicknamed Daisy.
Stamfordham was a British Army officer and courtier. He was Private Secretary to Queen Victoria during the last few years of her reign, King Edward VII and to King George V during most of his reign. He was the maternal grandfather of Lord Adeane, Private Secretary to Queen Elizabeth II from 1953 to 1972.
