Fine antique signed letter written in pencil from Windhoek in Namibia dated 30/XIII 1948 from Friedrich III, Prince of Solms Baruth (1886-1951), addressed to Duke Friedrich of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glucksburg, discussing life in Namibia. He is famous for being arrested by the Nazis for his involvement in the failed Valkyrie assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler in July 1944. He was tortured by the Nazis and forced to hand over his estate to Himmler. He eventually left Germany to live in Namibia. His family are still trying to get the family estate back.
