Fine antique imperial Russian proclamation given by Tsar Alexander II announcing the birth of Grand Duke Alexei Alexandrovich dated 22nd September 1860:

"BY THE GRACE OF GOD

WE, ALEXANDER THE SECOND,

EMPEROR AND AUTOCRAT OF ALL THE RUSSIAS,

TSAR OF POLAND, GRAND DUKE OF FINLAND,

Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.


We hereby make known to all Our loyal subjects:


On the 21st day of September, Our beloved Spouse,

HER IMPERIAL MAJESTY THE EMPRESS MARIA ALEXANDROVNA,

by the grace of God, safely delivered of a son,

who has been named Alexei.


Thus, to the joy of the Imperial House of Our Empire, by the blessing of God,

a joyous event has occurred, which We now hasten to communicate

to Our loyal subjects. We are certain that all of them, with Us,

will offer fervent prayers to the Almighty Creator

for the blessed health and righteous upbringing of the newborn.


In all churches, where appropriate,

We command that prayers be said and the name of Our beloved Son

be included as the Grand Duke, with the style of

His Imperial Highness.


Given in Tsarskoe Selo, on the 21st day of September,

in the year of Our Lord 1860,

and the 6th year of Our reign.
