Fine antique printed dinner/seating plan/guest list for a formal State Dinner held at the Governor-General's House in Karachi, Pakistan, shortly after the creation of Pakistan attended by the founder of Pakistan Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Miss Fatima Jinnah, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, alongside senior Pakistani ministers, British officials, diplomates and military figures. 7th February 1948 is extremely early in Pakistan's existence (created in 1947) and falls within weeks of independence and just six months before Jinnah's death (September 1948). From the collection of Major Michael Charles Babington Hawkins (1914-1977), and his wife Virginia nee Heath, he was ADC to Prince Henry Duke of Gloucester.
