Fine antique signed letter dated 5th October 1939 from Mary, Princess Royal Countess of Harewood (1897-1965), only daughter of King George V and Queen Mary, addressed to her son Gerald, signed "Mummy", written on stationery embossed with 'M' surmounted by a crown, relating to a visit to an army establishment with Colonel Ramsden who was angry about the press coverage of Gerald's article in Harewood News, accompanied by its original envelope with 'M' in the lower left hand corner for 'Mary'. From the collection of Gerald David Lascelles (1924-1998) and Angela Lascelles (1919-2007), first wife of the Honourable Gerald Lascelles second son of the 6th Earl of Harewood and his wife the Princess Royal - despite divorcing she remained very close to Queen Elizabeth II and the Royal Family.
