Fine antique group of official programmes produced for the 1959 royal visit of Prince Henry Duke of Gloucester and his wife Princess Alice to the Federation of Nigeria. Included is the original 'Detailed Programme' of the visit dated 29th May 1959, issued by the Government of Western Nigeria, 'Full Itinerary' of the Nigerian visit dated May 1959, 'Press Handbook' 31 pages, 'Detailed Programme' of the visit to the Northern Region of The Federation of Nigeria on the occasion of the Self-Government Celebration dated May 1959, marked "His Royal Highness" with numerous annotations by Hawkins correcting details in the programme 66 pages, 'A Loyal Address' by Sir Adesoji Aderemi and another 'Detailed Programme' dated May 1959 29 pages. From the collection of Major Michael Charles Babington Hawkins (1914-1977), and his wife Virginia nee Heath, he was ADC to Prince Henry Duke of Gloucester.
