Fine antique collection of four signed letters from members of the aristocratic Egerton family to Florence Nina daughter of John Robert Hollond MP and wife of Lt Colonel Edward 'Bill' Lisle Strutt (1874-1948), British soldier and mountaineer and President of the Alpine Club. The letters relate to his death and passing on his eye glasses as a wedding present. The letters are written on Stetchworth Park estate stationery in 1948. There is one letter from British courtier Lady Alice Egerton (1923-1977), she was Lady-in-Waiting to Princess Elizabeth later Queen Elizabeth II and was appointed Woman of the Bedchamber in 1953 - she served the Queen for the next 24 years but was dismissed apparently for warning the Queen about Prince Philip's infidelity - this is denied by the Egerton family and her suicide was due to her depression. There is one signed letter from Lady Margaret 'Meg' Colville nee Egerton (1915-1987), sister of Lady Alice and former Lady-in-Waiting to Princess Elizabeth, Alice succeeded her. There are two letters signed by Lady Violet Egerton (1880-1976), mother of Lady Alice and Lady Margaret.
