Fine antique and substantial original working file of typed memoranda, regulations, amendments and internal notices relating to the organisation, hierarchy, duties and daily routine of the Governor-General Prince Henry Duke of Gloucester's Household and staff during the immediate post-war period at Government House, Canberra Australia 1945-1946. Contents include 'Duties of Staff, Organisation of Office, and Routine at Government House Canberra (No 1 January 1945) with multiple official amendments through December 1945 and February 1946. Detailed chains of responsibility covering Chief of Staff, Comptroller, ADC's, Ladies-in-Waiting, Secretarial staff, chauffeurs, stables, gardens, cinema, entertainments, household accounts and aircraft. Table of Precedence, June 1945 (Commonwealth of Australia). Staff memoranda on protocol, initials, decorations, and forms of address. Security and access notices relating to Government House gates. Distribution lists showing circulation to HRH, senior staff and officials. Signed and typed material by senior officers including Brigadier Derek Schreiber, Chief of Staff to the Duke. Retained in its original paper folder with clips, working annotations in red and blue pencil. 
From the collection of Major Michael Charles Babington Hawkins (1914-1977), and his wife Virginia nee Heath, he was ADC to Prince Henry Duke of Gloucester.
