Fine antique imperial Russian solid silver serving spoon made for the Imperial Russian Court and specifically for Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovna (1853-1920), daughter of Tsar Alexander II, later Duchess of Edinburgh, later Duchess of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. The large and heavy serving spoon has her initials MA surmounted by the crown on the ladle and is fully hallmarked to the bowl with the double headed imperial eagle and in Cyrillic EHenrichsen the kokoshnik assay mark and 84 zolotnik mark. Henrichsen was a silversmith in St Petersburg.
