Fine antique signed letter from Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna (1882-1960), dated 29th June 1935 addressed to her beloved former tutor Ferdinand Thormeyer (1858-1944), known as Siocha, discussing her trip to Paris with her husband who has been having calcium injections "we are leaving in better spirits than when we arrived, and I thank God." Her husband must remain careful to not knock himself or fall so the bones of the spine might grow stronger. She then goes on to discuss her children who have been visiting the cinema with her niece Irene and her friend Marie-Madeleine who will visit for two weeks and her husband likes Marie as she is not 'modern'. The boys are of course unhappy about it but the fresh air will be good for the girls as their life in the city is not healthy. There is a postscript where she informs Socha that they shall be sleeping in Lille and on 30th June will be in Holland expecting to return to Knudsminde on the evening of the 2nd July. Accompanied by its original envelope retaining its postage stamp which Thormeyer usually removed to add to his collection.
