Fine antique royal invitation to an Evening Reception at Buckingham Palace hosted by Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, dated 9th November 1960, embossed in gold with ERII surmounted by a crown.This was at the height of the Cold War and was most likely attended by senior military officers and Commonwealth of NATO linked guests. From the collection of Major Michael Charles Babington Hawkins (1914-1977), and his wife Virginia nee Heath, he was ADC to Prince Henry Duke of Gloucester.
