Fine antique lacquer and mother of pearl cricket box made to commemorate the death of King Leopold I of Belgium (1790-1865), the lid is finely inlaid with mother of pearl with an oval portrait of King Leopold I in. military uniform, wearing orders and decorations. He is flanked most likely by the Duke of Brabant later King Leopold III, with classical architectural and allegorical backdrop. The sides are richly decorated with repeating mother of pearl foliate motifs, and the interior lid bears the royal Belgium coat of arms in gilt
