Fine antique signed cards from Grand Duchess Xenia Alexandrovna of Russia (1875-1960), as a young girl aged 12 years old, sister of Tsar Nicholas II, addressed to her beloved tutor Ferdinand Thormeyer (1858-1944), dated simply as Fredensborg Palace in Denmark September 1887, written in French, whilst on the annual holiday to visit her Danish relatives, embossed with Ksenia in Russian surmounted by a gold crown, jokingly chastising him for not haven written to her, and insisting that she hasn't forgotten the French language as they are having lessons and despite there being mistakes she is trying, they also have classes in English and will soon be going to Gatchina from there she will write again, accompanied by the original handwritten envelope also embossed on the back with her name in Russian surmounted by a gold crown addressed to Thormeyer at his home in Carouge, Switzerland, retiring the original stamp which usually Thormeyer removed to add to his stamp collection.
