Bibelot is a late nineteenth century word derived from the French word bel ‘beautiful’, meaning a small item of beauty, curiosity or interest. The word ephemera is derived from the sixteenth century Greek word ephmera meaning a printed or hand written paper not meant to be retained for a long period of time.
Fine antique invitation card made for Baron James Rothschild to a boar hunt in the Forest of Rambouillet, held between 20th September and 8th October 1927, by gracious permission of the celebrated French aristocrat and pioneering motorist Dowager Duchess Anne d'Uzes, Master of the Hunt, with an embossed silver hunting horn and ribbon on a gold medallion, accompanied by the original Maison Sterne artwork dated 7th September 1927.
