Fine antique signed letter in French by Count Antoine Maurice Apollinaire d'Argout (1782-1858), dated simply as Paris 19th February by prominent French statesman of the July Monarchy, declining a dinner invitation from his correspondent. He explains that he has already accepted an engagement to dine with Claude Philibert Bartlett, Comte de Rambuteau, then Prefect of the Seine, a key figure in the modernisation of Paris under King Louis-Philippe, but courteously proposes to visit his correspondent later in the evening
