Fine antique archive relating to the Coronation celebrations of Queen Elizabeth II and the first Trooping the Colour of her reign, held on Horse guards Parade on 11th June 1953, just nine days after her Coronation. Comprising the official 'Celebration in London of the Birthday of Her Majesty the Queen - Trooping the Colour' programme; three consecutively numbered Ministry of Works admission tickets, Nos. 370-372, for Stand 33 and the accompanying printed ticket conditions.
Also included is a collection of nineteen original photographic negatives taken during the 1953 Coronation celebrations preserved in contemporary envelopes. These record the extraordinary public response to the new Queen, including London street scenes, shop displays, street parties, large crowds and gatherings outside Buckingham Palace, Tower Bridge etc, an evocative and private photographic record of central London.
