Fine antique pair of official documents from Queen Victoria's Customs House dated 29th April 1890. The left document is a public notice announcing that Queen Victoria's birthday will be observed as a holiday on 21st May 1890 at all UK ports except Glasgow, Leith, and Greenock. In those ports the holiday will be on different dates: 22nd May for Glasgow and Leith, and 27th May for Greenock. The right document is an internal General Ordder giving the same information but includes extra instructions for handling urges mail around the holiday. it has a red stamp marked "CANCELLED" meaning it was later replaced by another order.
