Fine antique signed letter dated 4th June 1941 during World War II from Mary, Princess Royal Countess of Harewood (1897-1965), only daughter of King George V and Queen Mary, addressed to her son Gerald, signed "Mummy", written on stationery embossed with 'H' surmounted by a crown for Barnwood Manor home to her brother Prince Henry Duke of Gloucester, whom she was visiting, discussing how she had been with an anti-aircraft division and that she had been in an armoured car and tank and telling him to be careful with his clothes and shoes as they are difficult to come by due to rationing. From the collection of Gerald David Lascelles (1924-1998) and Angela Lascelles (1919-2007), first wife of the Honourable Gerald Lascelles second son of the 6th Earl of Harewood and his wife the Princess Royal - despite divorcing she remained very close to Queen Elizabeth II and the Royal Family.
