Fine antique signed letter dated 26th July 1939 from Mary, Princess Royal Countess of Harewood (1897-1965), only daughter of King George V and Queen Mary, addressed to her son Gerald, signed "Mummy", written on embossed mourning stationery with 'M' surmounted by a crown for Harewood House, discussing shopping at Harrods as well as two Buckingham Palace parties and dinner with "Grannie" and later another dinner with "aunt Madge, Uncle xxx, Dick and Desmond...Dick has just returned home on leave from India for 2 months, he seems very well' accompanied by its original envelope with 'M' in the lower left hand corner for 'Mary'. From the collection of Gerald David Lascelles (1924-1998) and Angela Lascelles (1919-2007), first wife of the Honourable Gerald Lascelles second son of the 6th Earl of Harewood and his wife the Princess Royal - despite divorcing she remained very close to Queen Elizabeth II and the Royal Family.
