Fine antique letter embossed with KA surmounted by a crown, signed by a fourteen year old Grand Duchess Xenia Alexandrovna of Russia (1875-1960), sister of Tsar Nicholas II, addressed to her beloved tutor Ferdinand Thormeyer (1858-1944), dated Fredensborg 2/14 September 1889, written in French and Russian discussing the illness of people at Court including her brother Georgie, Xenia is very unwell with a cold "everything is unbearable" "The Princess of Wales has returned from London..." "Everything irritates me dreadfully." She goes on to mention Gatchina, the Emperor of Germany of whom a lot is spoken and Empress Victoria arriving with her children, signing off "your devoted pupil Xenia:
