Fine antique signed letter in French from Princess Marie Bassaraba de Brancovan (1855-1911), born Marie-Catherine de Brignole, A French born aristocrat, member of the Romanian nobility who became Princess Cantacuzene through marriage and took the title Princess de Brancovan, she was the mother of Countess Anna de Noailles (1876-1933), the celebrated French poet and novelist and socialist feminist. The letter is dated 24th January 1879 and is written on her personal stationery embossed with a gold crown and is addressed to the wife of Marechale de MacMahon, Elisabeth (1834-1900)
