Fine antique signed letter in Russian from Alexander Alexandrovich Friederici (1907 - ), to his mother Princess Andre of Russia nee Donna Elisabetta di Sasso-Ruffo (1886–1940), written from school and accompanied by its original envelope postmark dated Hastings 15th June 1923, enclosing photographs of him, his school and a photo of him with his sister Elisabeth Alexandrovna, their mother and step father Prince Andrew.

"Dear Mama,

How is your health? I hope it's better. I feel completely well now and will soon be fully healthy again.
We have regular sports practice, and today I remembered everything.
I received your letter and was so happy — it felt like hearing your voice again.
I miss you very much.
I’m doing well.
When I find out whether we’ll have a day off, I’ll try to come visit to bring the package.
Usually, we’re allowed to come on Saturday and return on Monday.

If you decide that you can’t come, please send the package through Mr. Milone and his wife.
On Sunday, we took a very nice photo. Mr. Milone has it, and once I have a copy, I’ll send it to you.
How are things at home?
Is Tolstoy still there? Or did she leave?
I still haven't received a letter from her..
My sports outfit is a powerful red.
The weather here is very changeable — sometimes it’s so bad, it’s hard to breathe.
On other days, we’re not allowed to go out.
The school uniform has become familiar to me.
Please tell Andrei that I am sending him some stamps - French
Big hugs and kisses.
Your Sandrine

P.S. When I grow up, I want to do something useful. I’m thinking about becoming an engineer and teaching in a school somewhere far away."
